To meet the increasing demand of the international Chinese education teachers,and to promote the development of Chinese education around the world,the Centerfor Language Education and Cooperationof the Ministry of Education (hereinafter referred to as the Center) has set uptheinternational ChineseLanguage Teachers Scholarship (hereinafter referred to as the scholarship), focusing on training qualified overseas Chinese teachers. Confucius Institute, independent Confucius Classroom,someHSKtestcenters(hereinafter referred to as recommending institutions) can recommend outstanding students and in-servicelocalChinese teachers to study Chineselanguageand related majors in Capital Normal University.The application for the 2023International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship is available and the system will be open for application from March 1, details are as follows:

1.ELIGIBILITY

All applicantsshall be:

1)non-Chinesecitizens;

2)in good physical and mentalcondition, with good academic performance and conduct;

3)committed tothe Chinese language education and related work;

4)between the ages of 16 and 35(as of September 1st, 2023). Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall not be over 45, while undergraduate applicants shall not be over 25;

5) Both or one of the parents of the applicant is a Chinese citizen and has settled abroad, and the applicant has foreign nationality at birth, or the applicant was originally a resident of the mainland of China , Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, and then emigrated abroad to obtain foreign nationality; our school refers to Document No.12 [2020] of the Ministry of Education of China, and requires the applicant to provide relevant materials.

2.SCHOLARSHIP TYPES AND QUALIFICATIONS

A. Scholarship for Doctor’s Degree in International Chinese Education

Enrollment in September 2023.

The program provides scholarship for a maximum four academic years.

B.Scholarship for Master’s Degree in International Chinese Education

Enrollment in September 2023.

The program provides scholarship for a maximumtwoacademic years.

C.Scholarship for Bachelor’s Degree in International Chinese Education

Enrollment in September 2023.

The program provides scholarship for a maximum four academic years.

D.Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Study

Enrollment in September 2023.

The program provides scholarship for a maximum eleven-months.

E.Scholarship for One-Semester Study

Enrollment in September 2023or March 2024.

The program provides scholarship for a maximum five-months.

F.Scholarship for Four-Week Study

Enrollment in July or December 2023.

The program provides a four-week scholarship.

3.SCHOLARSHIP COVERAGE

Tuition fee,accommodation fee,living allowance (four-week study students are excluded) and comprehensive medical insurance.

4.APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Starting from March 1st, 2023, applicants can apply for the International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship by visiting the application website (cis.chinese.cn)and CNU International Student Service System.

1. Visit the scholarship website and check the recommending organizations and receiving institutions;

2. Submit the application materials online, and communicate with the recommending institutions to obtain the recommendation qualification;

3.After completing theCISscholarship website registration, the applicant must complete the online registration procedures in the International Student Service System of Capital Normal University. Website: https://cnu.17gz.org/,applicantsneed to upload files and fill in information according to system requirements;

4.Pay attention to the application process,feedbackand scholarship evaluation results;

5. Scholarship recipients could confirm with Capital Normal Universitytogo through the procedures for studying in China and print the award certificate online;

6. Enroll in university according to the time specified in the admissionletter of Capital Normal University.

5.APPLICATION DEADLINE(Beijing time)

1．Apr.15(For programmes commencingin July);

2．May 15(For programmes commencinginSeptember);

3．Sep.15(For programmes commencinginDecember);

4．Nov.15(For programmes commencinginMarch,2024).

The Centerfor Language Education and Coopertionwill entrust an expert panel to review the applications.The results will beavailablethree months before school starts.

6.ABOUTCHINESE TEACHERS ANDCHINESE BRIDGE WINNERS

1. For Local Chinese teachers

In-serviceLocalChinese teachers applying for various scholarships can provide in-service certificates and recommendation letters issued by the employment institutions, and are exempted from submitting HSK certificates.

2.For Chinese Bridge Winners

If you have won the "International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship Certificate" in various Chinese Bridge competitions , please visit the website of International Chinese Language Teachers Scholarship and submit the application documents to Capital Normal University with the scholarship certificate.

Appendix

Application Documents forInternational TeachersScholarship

Ⅰ. For all applicants

a) a scanned copy of passport photo page;

b) a scanned copy ofTest Report Formof HSKandHSKK (within the two-year validity);

c) a reference letter by the head of the recommending institutions;

d) the foreigner physical examination form.

Ⅱ. For degree scholarship program applicants

a) a certification of the highest education diploma (or proof of expected graduation) and an official transcript;

b) applicants of the Scholarship for DTCSOL students are required to provide 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors or experts with equivalent professional in relevant fields and a 3000-word personal statement in Chinese (including knowledge of the intended field of study and research proposal). Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

c) applicants of the Scholarship for MTCSOL students are required to provide 2 reference letters from professors or associate professors, and a Study Plan in Chinese. Priority will be given to applicants who may provide a work contract with a teaching institution upon completing their studies in China or a proof to the same effect.

Ⅲ. Applicants currently working as Chinese language teachers shall provide proof of employment as well as a reference letter by the employer.

Ⅳ. Applicants under the age of 18 shall provide certified documents of designation signed by their entrusted legal guardians in China. The guardian needs to go to a local notary office in Beijing, and submit the notarization issued by the notary office to Capital Normal University.

Ⅴ. Applicants shall also provide additional documents required by Capital Normal University.
